I still remember December 26th, 2016 like it was yesterday. The day I’d decided to take control and get healthy for my family and myself.
I was just like you.
Ready to start but so overwhelmed with the amount of flashy online programs and quick-fix diets making seemingly impossible promises. I wasn’t afraid of putting in the work but it’s not like I could just run down to the local gym to get help, hell, I could barely get around my own house, I was at 687 lbs.
I called a local gym and got lucky. There was no trainer available, so I spoke to the receptionist. I poured my heart out to her, and she chose to listen to me. She took notes and when our conversation ended, she assured me she would have a trainer call me back.
And sure enough, an hour later, I received a phone call from Brandon Glore, their personal trainer. Brandon expressed great empathy for my situation, and offered real encouragement and attainable goals.
One step at a time.
The first step was our telephone conversation. The next step was Brandon wanted to come to my house.
He came to my house and our conversation changed my life. He extended grace to me and took me on as a client. Finally, my cries for help were being answered!
Through my struggles, before I met Brandon, I had learned that it takes a minimum of 21 days to change, make or break a habit. And it works, if you stick to it!
Brandon and I discussed the 21-day challenge, and we decided to incorporate it into my journey. We made it small because small tweaks lead to great peaks.
The challenge put me on the right path and answered almost all the questions I previously had about where to start and what to do. It gave me a step-by-step roadmap, the confidence to believe I could actually do this and led me to lose my first 100lbs in less than a year – one of my first challenges, was a structured meal plan, on that meal plan I lost 36 pounds in 21 days.
I made my journey VERY public to hold myself accountable and thus The Obesity Revolution was born! With over 60 million views online, I wanted to continue my journey publicly to encourage others and help others by offering them my experiences, failures and successes.
It’s important that you know that you can begin again – you can start over as many times as you need to. Beginning again is never a sign of failure, it’s a sign of strength! I want to give that same experience and feeling of accomplishment to you, right now!
The 21 day Challenge can be used in every aspect of your life as a tool for change, improvement and reaching a goal. Its not just about diets, food and exercise.
